Role Overview
As a Junior Sales Officer focused on remittance services, you will be the frontline driver of customer acquisition and revenue growth for cross-border money transfer products. Your typical week will involve visiting prospective clients, explaining transfer options, supporting walk-in customers with paperwork, and chasing monthly sales targets. Your ability to convert leads into loyal, repeat customers directly influences the branch's market share in a competitive financial services space.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and prospect new customers through outbound calls, field visits, referrals, and partnerships with local small businesses or diaspora communities.
- Promote the company's remittance products by clearly explaining transfer fees, exchange rates, payout speed, and delivery channels to both first-time and existing users.
- Guide customers through account activation, transaction forms, and required documentation while ensuring full compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) and know-your-customer (KYC) regulations.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with a portfolio of assigned clients, proactively reaching out to understand their sending patterns and resolve any service issues.
- Meet or exceed individual weekly and monthly sales quotas, tracking personal performance and preparing simple progress reports for supervisors.
- Collaborate with branch operations teams to ensure smooth processing of transactions and escalate any delays, discrepancies, or system concerns that affect the customer experience.
- Support in-store promotional campaigns, assist at partner outlets, and accompany senior sales staff on business development meetings to learn account management techniques.
- Monitor competitor pricing and promotions in the local remittance market, providing feedback to management on customer preferences and potential product improvements.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, finance, or a related field; fresh graduates with relevant internships are welcome to apply.
- Up to 2 years of experience in sales, banking, microfinance, or a customer-facing financial services role is advantageous.
- Demonstrated sales aptitude, including the ability to negotiate, handle objections, and close deals in person or over the phone.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in the local language, with English as an additional asset for serving international clients.
- Basic numeracy and attention to detail are essential for explaining exchange rates, calculating commissions, and completing transaction forms accurately.
- Familiarity with KYC/AML principles is a plus; willingness to undergo compliance training is mandatory.
- Self-motivated, energetic, and comfortable working in a target-driven environment where performance is measured on a monthly basis.
- Willingness to conduct fieldwork and visit customer locations as part of the daily sales routine.
