Role Overview
This is a hands-on, field-driven sales position centred on in-car entertainment and automotive electronics. Day to day, you will be out with customers — vehicle owners, accessory retailers, installation workshops, dealerships and fleet managers — demonstrating head units, multimedia displays, audio components and accessories, advising on what will actually fit and work in a given vehicle, and then driving the enquiry through quoting and closing. The role directly determines how quickly stock moves, how strong the dealer and installer network becomes, and how well the brand is represented at the point of sale, so it suits someone who is as comfortable in a workshop bay discussing wiring harnesses as they are negotiating an order.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and manage a pipeline of buyers spanning private vehicle owners, car accessory shops, audio installation workshops, franchised and independent dealerships, and fleet operators.
- Run product demonstrations and explain feature differences across car radios, multimedia screens, speakers, amplifiers, subwoofers, cameras and related accessories, matching specifications to each customer's needs and budget.
- Verify fitment before quoting — checking dash aperture sizes, connectors, harnesses and adapters, steering-wheel control integration, speaker sizes and impedance, and any other installation considerations for the specific make and model.
- Prepare accurate quotations, negotiate price and terms within agreed limits, and follow up on enquiries consistently until the sale is closed.
- Develop and maintain dealer and installer relationships, securing repeat and volume orders while keeping partners updated on new stock and product launches.
- Coordinate with installation technicians and partners to schedule fitting work, resolve on-site problems, and ensure each job is completed and handed over properly.
- Provide after-sales support, including handling warranty claims, escalating faults for diagnosis, arranging replacements, and keeping customers informed throughout.
- Monitor competitor pricing and product activity, track your sales and customer records, and report market feedback to inform stock and pricing decisions.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A proven sales track record in vehicle infotainment, car audio, or automotive electronics, whether gained through retail, wholesale or distribution channels.
- Strong technical familiarity with car radios and head units, multimedia screens, speakers, amplifiers, subwoofers, DSPs, reversing cameras and the accessories that support them, including how the components work together as a system.
- A practical understanding of vehicle compatibility and installation requirements — harnesses, adapters, dash kits, connector types, electrical fundamentals and the questions an installer will ask before a unit can be fitted.
- Confident consultative selling and demonstration ability, with the skill to translate technical features into clear benefits for non-technical buyers.
- Solid negotiation, objection-handling and closing skills, plus the discipline to keep following up on open quotations.
- Strong customer service orientation and the composure to manage complaints, warranty issues and after-sales problems professionally.
- Self-motivation and organisation to work largely in the field, plan your own call schedule, and travel to customer premises as needed.
- Comfort with quoting, basic margin and pricing calculations, and keeping orderly sales records.
- Formal training in sales, marketing or an electronics/technical discipline is an added advantage, though demonstrated product knowledge and selling results carry the most weight.
