Role Overview
As an IT Sales Representative, you will be the primary point of contact for organisations evaluating software products and services, guiding them from first enquiry through to signed agreement. Day to day this means hunting for new business, running product demonstrations, and shaping proposals that match a customer's technical and commercial needs. The role sits at the front of the revenue engine — the relationships and pipeline you build directly determine how quickly the company grows its customer base and how well it retains the accounts it already has.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through cold outreach, networking, referrals, and inbound lead follow-up.
- Qualify prospects by understanding their current systems, pain points, budget, and decision-making process before progressing an opportunity.
- Deliver product demonstrations and presentations that translate software features into clear business outcomes for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Prepare accurate quotations, proposals, and tender responses, working with technical colleagues where a solution needs to be tailored or scoped.
- Negotiate pricing, licensing terms, and contract details, then drive each deal through to close within agreed timeframes.
- Maintain a disciplined sales pipeline in the CRM, keeping forecasts, activity records, and customer notes current and reliable.
- Grow existing accounts by identifying upsell, cross-sell, and renewal opportunities and checking in regularly on customer satisfaction.
- Keep up to date on the software portfolio, licensing models, and competing products so you can position offerings credibly and handle objections confidently.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience selling technology products or services, ideally software or IT solutions, with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- A diploma in Sales, Marketing, or a related discipline is an added advantage.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to build trust quickly across a range of customer stakeholders.
- Strong verbal and written communication, including the ability to explain technical concepts in plain language.
- Ambitious, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently to generate your own activity and pipeline.
- Confident negotiation and closing skills, with resilience in handling rejection and long sales cycles.
- Practical familiarity with CRM tools and pipeline reporting.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple opportunities and deadlines at once.
