Role Overview
This position leads the technology agenda for a large business unit, acting as the bridge between corporate IT direction and local commercial priorities. Day to day, you will shape the unit’s digital roadmap, run governance forums, oversee service delivery and security, and coach a team of IT professionals. Your work directly enables sales, parts, and service operations to run efficiently, while keeping the organisation aligned with global standards and risk frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the business unit’s IT strategy and multi-year roadmap, translating regional and corporate technology direction into a practical local plan that supports commercial objectives.
- Partner with business leadership to identify pain points and opportunities, then recommend and implement technology solutions that improve productivity, customer experience, and operational performance.
- Build and develop a high-performing IT team, defining roles, setting clear performance expectations, and fostering an environment of continuous learning and accountability.
- Chair the business unit IT council, ensuring transparent decision-making, clear communication, and alignment between local needs and group-level governance.
- Manage relationships with internal IT functions, external vendors, dealers, and key business stakeholders to ensure services are delivered on time, within budget, and to agreed service levels.
- Oversee cybersecurity, data protection, disaster recovery, backup operations, and audit readiness, ensuring all IT assets are safeguarded and compliant with internal and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and control the IT budget, including forecasting, spend monitoring, variance analysis, and contract management, while identifying cost optimisation opportunities.
- Champion innovation and digitalisation initiatives, from automation and AI to cloud adoption, and ensure that lessons learned are captured and shared across the wider organisation.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, business informatics, or a related discipline; an MBA or master’s in information systems is strongly preferred for this strategic role.
- 7–10+ years of progressive experience in IT or digital roles, with at least 3–5 years leading teams, programmes, or complex technology initiatives.
- Proven ability to manage distributed or multi-regional teams and deliver enterprise-wide change in a matrix organisation.
- Strong understanding of IT service management frameworks (ITIL), architecture principles, and governance practices.
- Hands-on familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), hybrid infrastructure, network connectivity, and enterprise applications such as SAP S/4HANA or Salesforce.
- Solid grasp of cybersecurity fundamentals, data governance, compliance requirements, and risk management techniques.
- Experience using analytics tools like Power BI or Tableau to support data-driven decisions.
- Professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum, SAFe, TOGAF, or ITIL 4 are highly valued.
- Excellent stakeholder communication, budget management, and vendor negotiation skills, with fluency in English (written and spoken).
