Role Overview
This role centres on maintaining and supporting the organisation’s core IT infrastructure, including servers, databases, networks, and user-facing systems. Day‑to‑day work involves managing Active Directory, diagnosing help‑desk tickets, overseeing print and audio‑visual setups, and ensuring data is backed up and recoverable. The position matters because it keeps critical business applications—like Dynamics 365 Business Central—running reliably while safeguarding data and enabling secure access for every user.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Windows Server environments, including user account management through Active Directory and group policy configuration.
- Design, implement, and test backup strategies for relational databases (e.g., SQL, MySQL) to guarantee data integrity and fast recovery when needed.
- Serve as a primary contact on the help‑desk platform, triaging and resolving technical issues reported by staff in a timely manner.
- Manage centralised printing solutions, ensuring that print queues, drivers, and consumables are available and functioning across the organisation.
- Set up and operate audio‑visual equipment for meetings, training sessions, and events, including video conferencing systems and presentation tools.
- Support and monitor network infrastructure using management tools, and administer the RADIUS server for secure authentication of wireless and remote access.
- Handle integrations between business systems using RESTful, OData, JSON, and SOAP API services, particularly in relation to Navision 2018 or Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Assist with cyber‑security measures and data‑protection practices, including periodic audits and user awareness activities, while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, BBIT, or Software Engineering.
- Minimum two years of experience working as an ICT Technician or in a comparable IT support role.
- Strong practical knowledge of data backup strategies and restoration techniques for relational databases.
- Proven ability to configure and manage Active Directory services in a production environment.
- Hands‑on experience with a help‑desk platform (ticketing system) and centralised printing solutions.
- Experience setting up audio‑visual equipment for corporate or educational events.
- Certification in Cyber Security and Data Protection, plus a certification in Emerging Technologies and AI.
- Certification in Data Management and Governance.
- Experience managing a RADIUS server for network authentication.
- Familiarity with network management and monitoring tools.
- Experience with Navision 2018 or Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Experience developing integrations using RESTful, OData, JSON, and SOAP API services.
- Proficiency in Windows Server configuration and management.
- Ability to design and develop relational database queries in SQL or MySQL.
- Registered with the relevant professional body (e.g., ICT standards board or equivalent).
- Must meet the requirements of Chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 (including clearance certificates).
