Role Overview

This position sits at the point where technical media production meets institutional communication, turning day-to-day activity into photographs, video, and designed assets that represent the organisation publicly. The post holder plans, shoots, edits, and publishes visual content across digital and print channels, handling the full pipeline from concept and storyboard through to final delivery. The role matters because the quality, consistency, and timeliness of that content directly shape how audiences, partners, and the wider public perceive the institution.

Key Responsibilities

• Shoot still photography and video for institutional events, announcements, campaigns, and documentary-style features, selecting the right lenses, lighting setups, and audio capture for each setting.
• Edit raw footage and images into finished pieces using Adobe Creative Cloud applications and Final Cut Pro, including cutting, colour correction, sound balancing, titling, and basic motion graphics.
• Design original graphics, posters, banners, and social media assets that conform to established brand guidelines while keeping visual output fresh and engaging.
• Develop and maintain a rolling digital content plan, mapping what gets produced, when it is published, and which platform or audience it is intended for.
• Publish and schedule finished content across web, social, and internal channels, writing or adapting captions and descriptions as needed.
• Organise, catalogue, tag, and back up photographic and video assets so that archived material remains searchable and reusable by other teams.
• Inspect, maintain, and advise on the procurement of cameras, lenses, lighting, audio equipment, and editing hardware and software.
• Collaborate with communications, public relations, and ICT colleagues on briefs, and provide technical guidance and hands-on support to staff producing their own content.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Film Production, Mass Communication, Public Relations, Corporate Communication, Journalism, Information Technology, or another relevant field, from a recognised institution.
• A minimum of five (5) years' professional experience at Grade 8 or an equivalent level, covering photography, video production, editing, creative graphic design, and digital content planning and production.
• Demonstrated command of professional editing and design tools, specifically the Adobe Creative Cloud editing and design applications and the Final Cut Pro suite.
• KCSE, EACE, or KCE academic certificate.
• Practical working knowledge of camera operation, studio and location lighting, audio recording, and colour management across the production cycle.
• Ability to manage several concurrent productions to deadline, work comfortably on location as well as in a studio or edit bay, and take direction from multiple stakeholders.
• A portfolio or showreel demonstrating finished photographic, video, and graphic design work is expected as part of the assessment process.

Technical Expert Position

Salary & Benefits
This is a contractual position renewable annually based on satisfactory performance and upon mutual agreement. The position entails a competitive package, which include but not limited to:

• Basic Salary of KShs 96,006/= per month which is in the salary scale of KShs. 96,006/= - 147,805/=
• House Allowance of KShs 47,915/= per month
• Any other allowances commensurate with the position
