Job Description

Position Title: Human Resource Officer

Industry Sector: Manufacturing

Remuneration: Kshs. 40,000 – 50,000 (Gross)

Location: Mombasa Road, Nairobi

Role Purpose

We are seeking a proactive Human Resource Officer to anchor the day-to-day operations of the HR department within a dynamic manufacturing setting. This role is designed for an organized professional who is passionate about building a high-performance culture and ensuring that human capital strategies directly support business goals. You will be the primary link between staff and management, handling everything from workforce planning and labor law compliance to talent development and conflict resolution. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments and possesses the analytical rigor to track performance and drive change management initiatives.

Key Performance Areas

Strategic HR Support & Compliance

  • Provide expert guidance on HR issues, including workforce planning, change management, and organizational transitions.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to implement HR strategies that align with broader business objectives.

  • Review and update HR templates, including employment contracts, job descriptions, and internal policies, ensuring 100% compliance with Kenyan labor laws.

  • Maintain accurate, digitized employee records and oversee the strict implementation of HR procedures.

Talent & Performance Management

  • Track and manage the performance appraisal cycle, identifying talent gaps and coordinating necessary training programs.

  • Support succession planning initiatives to ensure leadership continuity within the production and engineering teams.

  • Foster a positive workplace culture by implementing feedback mechanisms and employee engagement programs.

  • Prepare comprehensive regular reports for the client detailing HR activities, departmental KPIs, and expected outcomes.

Employee Relations & Conflict Resolution

  • Serve as the central point of contact for employee relations, managing grievances and disciplinary actions with a fair and consistent approach.

  • Support organizational growth by leading change management initiatives during periods of transition.

  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the manufacturing plant.

  • Utilize analytical skills to solve complex personnel issues and improve departmental efficiency.

Professional Requirements

Background & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Professional Tenure: Minimum of 3 years of HR experience, specifically within a manufacturing, production, or engineering industry.

  • Core Expertise: Proven track record in performance management, employee relations, and organizational development.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of the Employment Act and other relevant Kenyan labor regulations.

Essential Skill Set

  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and manage diverse teams.

  • Technical Proficiency: Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.

  • Leadership: Strong supervisory abilities with a focus on problem-solving and analytical thinking.

  • Availability: Candidates who can join immediately will be given high priority.
