Human Resource Business Partner

Role Overview

This is a strategic yet hands-on HR leadership position within Kenbright Holdings Limited, reporting directly to the Director of Operations. You will be responsible for designing and delivering the people strategy across the holding company and its subsidiaries, while also taking personal ownership of the full employee lifecycle — from recruitment and onboarding through performance management, employee relations, and separation.

Beyond day-to-day HR operations, you will act as the organisation’s custodian of employment records, the lead author of all internal staff communications, and the designated focal point for occupational safety and health. Your work will directly shape how the company attracts, develops, and retains talent while ensuring every people practice complies with applicable Kenyan legislation and the standards of the Institute of Human Resource Management.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and drive the annual HR plan, workforce strategy, and organisational capability initiatives that align with the group’s business objectives and support subsidiary needs.
• Own the complete employee lifecycle, including talent acquisition, onboarding, performance reviews, career progression, employee relations, and exit processes across all entities.
• Maintain and continuously update the Human Resource Policies and Procedures Manual, ensuring every policy reflects current legislation and is consistently applied throughout the organisation.
• Serve as the principal author of internal communications directed at staff, crafting clear, professional messages regarding company updates, policy changes, and HR initiatives.
• Act as the company’s occupational safety and health officer, coordinating risk assessments, safety training, incident reporting, and wellness programmes in line with workplace safety regulations.
• Manage and safeguard all employee records, ensuring data accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with legal retention and privacy requirements.
• Provide expert advice and coaching to managers and staff on disciplinary matters, grievance handling, conflict resolution, and employment law interpretation.
• Monitor HR metrics and provide regular reporting to the Director of Operations to inform decision-making on headcount, turnover, absenteeism, and other people-related trends.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, business administration, social sciences, or a related discipline from a recognised institution.
• A Higher National Diploma in Human Resource Management, CHRP (Certified Human Resource Professional), or an equivalent professional HR qualification.
• Current membership of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) with a valid practising certificate.
• At least six years of progressive experience in human resources, with a minimum of two years spent in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Kenyan employment legislation, including labour relations, occupational safety and health standards, and statutory compliance requirements.
• Strong written communication skills, evidenced by experience drafting policies, staff memos, newsletters, or other formal internal communications.
• Proven ability to work independently while partnering effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams across multiple business units.
