Job Description

Title: Hardware Field Sales Executive

Market Mandate

We are seeking high-energy Hardware Field Sales Executives to spearhead our growth within the Githurai 44 area and the broader Nairobi region. This is a "boots-on-the-ground" role where success is measured by your ability to navigate the local hardware and construction ecosystem. You will be the face of the company, visiting hardware stores, garages, and construction sites to provide technical consultations and close high-value sales deals. The ideal candidate is a persuasive communicator who understands the technical specifications of tools and machinery and can translate them into benefits for the customer.

Strategic Sales Activities

Business Development & Lead Conversion

  • Actively scout for new opportunities by conducting daily walk-ins and scheduled visits to construction firms, auto repair shops, and retail hardware outlets.

  • Build a robust pipeline of qualified leads through cold calling and networking within the building materials industry.

  • Prepare professional quotations and sales proposals, negotiating pricing and payment terms to ensure a win-win for the client and the firm.

  • Close sales deals effectively while ensuring all documentation and order processing protocols are strictly followed.

Technical Consultation & Product Mastery

  • Conduct live demonstrations of tools and machinery, highlighting unique features, durability, and safety benefits.

  • Offer expert technical advice to clients, recommending specific equipment based on their unique project requirements.

  • Provide essential after-sales support, including basic usage training and installation guidance for complex machinery.

  • Monitor competitor pricing and product launches, providing the management team with actionable market intelligence.

Territory & Account Stewardship

  • Plan and execute strategic daily routes within Githurai 44 and surrounding areas to maximize client face-time.

  • Nurture long-term relationships with existing accounts through regular follow-ups and prompt resolution of any customer concerns.

  • Leverage upselling and cross-selling techniques to increase the lifetime value of existing customer accounts.

  • Collaborate with logistics and finance departments to ensure seamless order fulfillment and timely payment collections.

Professional Standards & Experience

Educational & Technical Background

  • Education: Diploma or Degree in Sales, Marketing, Business, Engineering, or a related field.

  • History: A minimum of 2 years of proven experience in field sales, specifically dealing with tools, machinery, or construction products.

  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the hardware, construction, and automotive market dynamics in Kenya.

  • Mobility: Possession of a valid driving license and a willingness to travel extensively within the assigned region.
