Job Description

Role Overview

Garissa University is offering a fully funded scholarship to a young Kenyan citizen who will pursue a technical qualification in leather technology at an accredited TVET institution while simultaneously serving as a Tutorial Fellow at the university. The fellow will split their time between formal study and supporting the university's teaching activities, gaining hands-on academic experience alongside their technical training. Upon successful completion of the programme, the recipient enters a bonding arrangement under the university's terms and conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enrol in and complete a leather technology programme at a TVET institution in Kenya, with studies commencing in August 2026
  • Fulfil the duties of a Tutorial Fellow at Garissa University, including assisting with tutorials, practical sessions, and student guidance
  • Finish all coursework, research projects, and assessments within the prescribed study period
  • Register with relevant professional and regulatory bodies where applicable to the field
  • Maintain satisfactory academic standing and comply with university reporting requirements
  • Submit progress reports and other required documentation to the Registrar (Academic & Student Affairs)
  • Honour the bonding obligations set out by Garissa University following completion of the scholarship

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Kenyan citizenship
  • Aged thirty (30) years or below at the time of application
  • Minimum KCSE mean grade of C- (Minus), or alternatively a Certificate in Leather Technology or a related field from a recognised and accredited institution
  • Registered or registrable with the relevant professional and/or regulatory bodies where applicable
  • Able to complete the programme of study within the prescribed duration
  • Willing to be bonded under the applicable terms and conditions of Garissa University
  • Available to begin studies in August 2026
