Job Description

Role Overview

This position sits at the forefront of fintech innovation, constantly scanning the market for emerging technologies and disruptive business models that could reshape financial services. Day to day, you will translate those signals into a practical innovation agenda, running experiments, forging partnerships, and working with product, risk, and leadership teams to turn promising ideas into scalable, revenue-generating solutions. Your work directly influences how the organisation competes, adapts to regulation, and captures new growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Scan global fintech developments—including AI, blockchain, open banking, and regulatory shifts—to surface opportunities and threats for the business.
  • Craft and maintain a fintech innovation roadmap that ties directly to commercial goals, customer needs, and leadership priorities.
  • Design and run proof-of-concept trials and pilot programs, using agile methods and clear KPIs to test, learn, and decide whether to scale or stop.
  • Cultivate a network of startups, technology partners, venture investors, and research hubs to source co-innovation and potential investment or acquisition targets.
  • Work alongside product and engineering teams to embed new capabilities into existing platforms, ensuring APIs, interoperability, scalability, and a smooth customer experience.
  • Build business cases, pricing models, and go-to-market plans for new offerings, then track ROI and drive adoption across markets and segments.
  • Partner with legal, risk, and compliance colleagues to create governance guardrails, protect data, address ethical concerns, and keep pace with regulation.
  • Present insights and recommendations to senior leaders, influence the innovation agenda, and refine strategy based on measured outcomes.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Technology, Business, Innovation, or a similar discipline; an MBA is a plus.
  • 8–12 years in fintech, banking, innovation, or digital transformation, with a track record of moving ideas from concept to commercial launch.
  • Hands-on familiarity with AI, blockchain, APIs, open banking, and embedded finance, plus the ability to judge which technologies matter for the business.
  • Demonstrated success in innovation strategy, product incubation, or new venture creation, including leading cross-functional teams and complex programs.
  • Experience working with fintech startups, ecosystem partners, and partnership models, ideally including venture or investment networks.
  • Solid grasp of financial services regulation, risk management, and compliance frameworks, with the judgment to balance speed and safety.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, including data analysis, business case development, and ROI evaluation.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and executive influencing abilities.
