Finance Manager
Direct Line Reporting: General Manager / Board of Directors
Industry Sector: Finance / FMCG / Manufacturing & Distribution
Gross Salary Structure: Open / Competitive
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Role Overview
We are seeking a high-caliber, commercially astute Finance Manager to provide strategic financial leadership and safeguard the financial health of the business. Your primary objective is to maintain bulletproof financial controls, optimize working capital, and deliver high-integrity financial reporting under IFRS standards. This position bridges rigorous corporate governance with active commercial business partnership; you will translate complex financial metrics into actionable insights for the General Manager, optimize inventory investments, and champion the deep utilization of our Microsoft Dynamics ERP system. The role demands an assertive, solution-oriented CPA(K) professional with a strong background in high-volume distribution or FMCG environments who can confidently lead a high-performing finance team.
Areas of Accountability
Financial Reporting & General Ledger Control
- Oversee the end-to-end financial reporting architecture, guaranteeing timely, reliable, and compliant financial statements under IFRS guidelines.
- Compile and present comprehensive weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts for Senior Leadership and Board evaluation.
- Maintain absolute integrity across the General Ledger through routine balance sheet reviews, journal approvals, and control account reconciliations.
- Translate complex operational data into strategic board presentations, calling out emerging cost trends, margin pressures, and financial risks.
Working Capital & Commercial Business Partnership
- Direct daily liquidity flows and construct rolling cash flow projections to protect corporate solvency and support strategic expansion.
- Oversee credit control pipelines, monitoring debtor collection schedules and executing intervention strategies to reduce aged receivables.
- Partner with Sales and Operations teams to evaluate product pricing models, gross margin health, and channel profitability.
- Audit inventory valuation frameworks, working with logistics teams to balance stock investments against customer demand while curbing holding costs.
Governance, Risk Management & Compliance
- Enforce strict internal control frameworks, financial approval matrix thresholds, and fraud prevention protocols across all departments.
- Ensure 100% compliance with statutory tax obligations, including Corporate Income Tax, VAT, PAYE, and Withholding Tax declarations via iTax.
- Lead internal and external audit readiness processes, serving as the primary liaison for regulatory bodies and independent auditing teams.
- Continuously assess operational risk factors, instituting preventative measures to safeguard physical and digital corporate assets.
ERP Systems Optimization & Team Leadership
- Serve as the functional champion for the Microsoft Dynamics ERP finance module, automating reporting loops and eliminating manual spreadsheets.
- Formulate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across the finance department to increase workflow speed, data accuracy, and operational throughput.
- Mentor, coach, and manage the finance team, establishing clear performance key performance indicators (KPIs) and promoting a culture of accountability.
- Collaborate with HR, IT, Warehouse, and Sales leads to align cross-functional workflows with broader organizational growth targets.
Skills & Experience Required
Minimum Entry Criteria
- Professional Qualifications: Fully qualified CPA(K) with an active, unblemished membership standing with ICPAK (or equivalent international qualification).
- Academic Foundation: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration, or a closely related field from a recognized university.
- Industry Longevity: Minimum of 5 years of progressive finance and accounting experience within FMCG, Beverage, Consumer Goods, Pharmaceuticals, or Manufacturing/Distribution sectors.
- Leadership Track Record: At least 2 years of direct experience leading a finance department or managing a multi-disciplinary accounting team.
- ERP Mastery: Hands-on operational experience with enterprise ERP systems, specifically Microsoft Dynamics (or SAP, Oracle, Sage X3).
- Technical Toolkit: Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency with expertise in cash flow modeling, margin analysis, inventory control, and pricing strategy.
Leadership Competencies
- Commercial Acumen: Outstanding ability to connect daily financial metrics with broader market opportunities and commercial growth strategy.
- Executive Presence: Confident, persuasive communication style capable of challenging operational assumptions constructively before executive boards.
- Uncompromising Integrity: High ethical standards with a proven history of maintaining strict confidentiality, transparency, and regulatory discipline.
Perks & Environment
- Strategic Influence: Serve as a core business partner to executive leadership, playing a pivotal role in steering commercial strategy and operational direction.

- Professional Growth: Manage a diverse, high-impact commercial portfolio inside a fast-paced, high-volume distribution network.
