Job Description

  • Lead the finance function for Kenyan operations, driving financial strategy, accurate reporting, strong controls, and insights to fuel rapid network expansion, retail performance, and profitability in the competitive oil & gas sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for business and station-level growth.
  • Oversee full-cycle accounting (GL, AP/AR, payroll, fuel/lubricant inventory, reconciliations, month/year-end closings).
  • Prepare financial statements, management accounts, cash flow reports, and KPI dashboards.
  • Manage treasury, cash flow, banking, and working capital in a high-volume retail setting.
  • Ensure compliance with KRA, EPRA, IFRS, ICPAK, and statutory requirements. Drive cost control, margin analysis, and profitability across stations.
  • Coordinate audits, internal controls, risk management, and fraud prevention. Support expansion projects, new stations and investments decisions.

  • Collaborate with operations, retail, and procurement on pricing, inventory, and commercial matters.

Academic Qualifications & Professional Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related (Master's/MBA advantage).
  • Professional qualification: CPA(K) or ACCA (ICPAK membership advantage).
  • 7-10 years progressive finance/accounting experience, including 2+ years in managerial/senior auditor role.
  • Strong background in retail, oil & gas, energy, or multi-site operations preferred.
  • Expertise in financial planning, reporting, compliance, and cash management in fast-paced environments.
  • Hands-on with ERP systems and advanced Excel/analytics.
  • Deep knowledge of Kenyan tax, regulatory, and energy sector rules.
