Role Overview

You will work on the ground in Coast Region communities to grow Tuishi membership and ensure people understand the protection and benefits available to them. Day to day, you will move through villages, estates, markets, hospitals, churches and workplaces to sign up new members, explain how the medical cover, last-expense cover and inkind envelope work, and help members when they need to use their benefits. This role is about turning trust into long-term community engagement and making sure member support is accessible where people actually live and gather.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out outreach visits to homes and community gathering points to register new Tuishi members and explain membership options clearly.
• Lead short, practical education sessions that help people understand the medical cover, last-expense cover and inkind envelope, including the claims process.
• Support members who are making claims by guiding them through the steps involved and liaising with back-office support when needed.
• Activate services for newly registered members and follow up to ensure they know how to use their cover from day one.
• Build relationships with community leaders, hospital staff, church groups, market vendors and employers who can help increase Tuishi presence.
• Track and report daily outreach results, including the number of people met, members registered and issues raised, so the programme can keep improving.
• Answer questions and correct misconceptions about cover, exclusions and what the inkind envelope provides, using simple language suitable for different audiences.
• Help current members renew, update their details, and understand how changes such as moving or needing care affect their benefits.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to communicate confidently with diverse groups, explain ideas simply and relate well with people of different backgrounds.
• A self-starter mindset, with comfort working independently in the field and little direct supervision while still meeting registration and outreach targets.
• Current residence in Coast Region, or genuine readiness to relocate there and work within its local communities.
• A genuine commitment to community service and improving access to health and financial protection for local families.
• Previous experience in field sales, community outreach, health services, microinsurance, or a related role is an added advantage.
• Basic literacy and numeracy for member registration forms, mobile data entry and simple reporting; fluency in English, Kiswahili and preferably a local Coast language.
• A proactive approach to identifying new venues and occasions where Tuishi membership can be promoted, from hospital waiting areas to chama gatherings.
