Job Summary

We are expanding our regional credit containment network and seeking proactive, mobile Field Collection Officers to manage client repayment pipelines. Your primary mandate is to protect capital liquidity by directly managing an assigned portfolio of borrower accounts and ensuring consistent compliance with repayment timelines. This active, field-intensive role focuses on direct behavioral intervention; you will divide your time between digital outreach and localized field traces to recover outstanding funds. The position is custom-built for an ethical, self-driven negotiator who can balance firm communication with respectful customer service while navigating diverse geographic territories.

Core Competencies

Portfolio Monitoring & Field Tracing

  • Supervise an active ledger of client accounts, strategically prioritizing recovery routes based on default durations and risk severity.

  • Execute regular field visits to customers' homes and business premises to establish direct contact and secure overdue balances.

  • Conduct localized investigative field traces to locate missing or unresponsive clients who have shifted operating locations.

  • Implement structured pre-due and post-due notification cycles via telephone calls and text reminders to prevent active accounts from slipping into arrears.

Financial Negotiation & Default Recovery

  • Engage defaulting borrowers to diagnose root causes of non-payment and structure realistic, binding repayment schedules.

  • Secure full or partial liquidations of past-due balances, managing the immediate collection process while handling customer friction with poise.

  • Diagnose early warning indicators of credit default or fraudulent behavior, escalating high-risk account profiles to supervisors instantly.

Administrative Reporting & Tech Logging

  • Log accurate, real-time records of client communications, physical site visits, and promised payment dates using mobile data tools.

  • Compile and submit detailed daily and weekly summaries outlining fieldwork performance, mileage trackers, and cash recovery metrics.

  • Ensure all recovered corporate funds are handled, routed, and banked in absolute alignment with internal safety rules and accounting policies.

Skills & Experience Required

Minimum Entry Criteria

  • Academic Foundation: Diploma or Bachelor's degree in any field (credentials in a business-related discipline will serve as an added advantage).

  • Professional Track Record: Minimum of 1 year of active, hands-on experience operating in field collections, credit control, or mobile lending field operations.

  • Mobility & Licensing: Must possess a valid Kenyan Class A2 motorcycle driving license and show complete willingness to travel extensively within assigned regional territories.

  • Technical Skills: Basic computer literacy with a functional capacity to navigate smartphone-based reporting tools and tracking systems.

Tactical Skillsets

  • Interpersonal Agility: Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills to de-escalate emotional client interactions safely.

  • Cultural Literacy: Professional fluency in English and Kiswahili (conversational knowledge of local regional languages within the designated territory is highly beneficial).

  • Target Resilience: Proven ability to work autonomously, manage complex field routes independently, and meet strict daily cash recovery quotas.
