Job Title: Commercial Farm Manager – Crop Production
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Commercial Farm Manager to oversee daily operations of a large-scale crop production farm. The ideal candidate will combine deep agronomic expertise with strong business acumen, sales experience, and leadership skills to maximize yields, profitability, and operational efficiency. This role is open to candidates willing to work on a consultancy basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily farm operations from land preparation through harvesting and post-harvest handling.
- Develop and implement comprehensive programs for crop production, irrigation, fertilization, and pest management.
- Manage farm resources including labor, machinery, equipment, and agricultural inputs efficiently.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate farm staff to ensure productivity and compliance with operational standards.
- Monitor farm performance, budgets, costs, yields, and profitability, reporting regularly to management.
- Ensure compliance with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Maintain accurate production records and prepare detailed operational reports.
- Liaise with suppliers, contractors, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders to support farm objectives.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Crop Science, Horticulture, Agricultural Management, or a related field.
- A Master’s Degree is an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in commercial farm management and crop production.
- Strong sales background and proven ability to drive commercial outcomes.
- Experience in budgeting, farm planning, data analysis, reporting, and team leadership.
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of agronomy, soil fertility, irrigation systems, crop protection, and modern farming practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and farm management software.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Open to candidates willing to work on a consultancy basis.
