Our client, a high-end boutique resort located in Timau, Meru, is seeking a practical Farm Manager to manage its mixed agricultural operations. Reporting to resort management, you will be responsible for overall farm administration, animal health and welfare, fodder cultivation, crop management, soil and water testing, budgeting, and driving commercial market outlets for fresh farm products.
Oversee the health, breeding, and welfare of dairy cows, sheep, and goats in coordination with veterinary services.
Perform artificial insemination (AI) procedures and monitor breeding schedules to maintain livestock productivity.
Manage fodder planting, harvesting, and ensilage/preservation techniques to ensure consistent feeding reserves.
Supervise poultry and animal product collection, including milk, eggs, and meat processing for kitchen and commercial supply.
Direct the cultivation, maintenance, and harvesting of fresh fruits, vegetables, and kitchen garden produce.
Inspect crop health regularly, conduct soil and water testing, and execute pest and disease control interventions.
Procure agricultural inputs including certified seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and general farm supplies.
Identify, develop, and expand commercial buyer markets for surplus farm products across local retail and hospitality sectors.
Manage farm operating budgets, track expenses against financial projections, and minimize operational waste.
Supervise, schedule, and lead daily farm labor hands across different field divisions.
Enforce workplace safety protocols and biosecurity standards across all farm facilities.
Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Science, Animal Science, Agribusiness, or a closely related field.
Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of active experience in managing farm operations, with practical experience in mixed farming (crops and livestock).
Technical Skills: Practical competency in artificial insemination (AI), fodder preservation, pest management, and soil health testing.
Business Acumen: Strong budgeting, financial tracking, commercial marketing, and negotiation skills.
Leadership: Excellent team supervision, problem-solving, and communication capabilities.
Commitment: Genuine passion for agriculture, high self-motivation, and willingness to work flexible hours as farm operations require.
