Job Description

Role Overview

As the Executive Housekeeper at a busy full-service hotel on Thika Road, you will be accountable for every aspect of cleanliness, presentation, and linen management across the property. Day to day, you will coordinate room attendants, public-area crews, and laundry staff to make sure suites and shared spaces are guest-ready at all times, while also tracking supplies, inspecting workmanship, and solving operational snags before they affect the guest experience. Your leadership directly shapes the hotel’s reputation for comfort and hygiene, and you will work closely with the Operations Manager and General Manager to keep service standards consistently high.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the full housekeeping operation: schedule room cleaning, assign zones, and set daily priorities based on expected occupancy and arrival times.
  • Inspect guest rooms, corridors, lobbies, restrooms, and back-of-house areas regularly; immediately correct any shortfall in cleanliness or presentation.
  • Lead and motivate a large team of room attendants, public-area cleaners, housekeeping supervisors, and laundry staff, clarifying roles and expectations.
  • Build fair duty rosters, manage attendance, and reallocate manpower during peak periods so that all floors remain fully covered.
  • Deliver hands-on training on cleaning techniques, hygiene standards, chemical handling, and guest-service etiquette; retrain or coach individuals as needed.
  • Direct laundry operations so that linens, towels, and uniforms are washed, pressed, stored, and distributed efficiently without stock shortages.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of linens, amenities, cleaning chemicals, and equipment; perform monthly counts and investigate any unusual usage or loss.
  • Monitor departmental expenditures against budget, control waste, and work with the engineering team to keep cleaning equipment and room fixtures in good repair.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management, Housekeeping Management, or a closely related field.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on housekeeping experience in a hotel, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Proven ability to coordinate a sizeable housekeeping department, including scheduling, training, and daily performance oversight.
  • Strong working knowledge of commercial laundry equipment, cleaning chemicals, proper dilution ratios, and linen inventory systems.
  • Demonstrated skill in controlling operating costs, conducting stock takes, and preparing departmental expense reports.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a strict approach to room inspections, sanitation protocols, and safety compliance.
  • Clear communication and interpersonal skills capable of leading a diverse workforce under high-occupancy pressure.

What We Offer / Why Join

This is a full-time leadership position based on Thika Road, offering a monthly remuneration of KSh 100,000. You will take charge of a well-established housekeeping operation with the backing of senior management, and you will have the opportunity to build, train, and refine a team while delivering tangible improvements to guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.
