Key responsibilities
- Enumerators will be expected to:
- Attend all training sessions and participate in piloting activities to ensure readiness for ethical and accurate data collection.
- Administer household surveys using mobile tools and support qualitative data collection through FGDs and KIIs under supervision.
- Obtain informed consent, maintain confidentiality, and strictly adhere to AKF’s safeguarding and ethical research standards.
- Develop and maintain a clear daily workplan prior to data collection, outlining the specific villages to be visited to ensure coverage of assigned locations per day.
- Submit complete and accurate data daily, maintain fieldwork logs, and promptly report any challenges encountered.
- Use and manage project equipment responsibly, ensuring proper handling and return upon completion of fieldwork.
Ethical and safeguarding standards
Enumerators must:
- Sign AKF’s Safeguarding Statement of Commitment
- Abide by AKF’s Safeguarding Manual, AKF Code of conduct and ethical research standards.
- Ensure participant protection, confidentiality, and informed consent
- Report any safeguarding concerns immediately
Timeline and Commitment
Activity - Dates (2026)
- Enumerator Training & Tool Piloting- 25th May 2026
- Data Collection Period- 1st – 12th June 2026
- Submission of Raw Data- 20th June 2026
Required Qualifications
- Minimum diploma in social sciences, public health, statistics, or related field
- Prior experience in field data collection, especially on gender, health, or SRHR topics in Kilifi County.
- Familiarity with digital data collection tools (ODK, KoboToolbox)
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili; knowledge of local dialects will be an advantage.
- Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity
- Demonstrated commitment to ethical research and safeguarding principles
Deliverables
- Completed and verified survey forms (digital)
- Daily fieldwork logs and summaries
- Feedback on tool usability and field challenges
- Participation in debrief and final review session
