Role Overview
Safety is the highest priority in this role, which keeps a complex overseas facility's elevator and electrical systems operating reliably. You will troubleshoot and repair motors, controls, brakes, and power distribution equipment while following strict preventive maintenance schedules. Your work directly supports compliance with environmental health, safety, and quality assurance requirements, and it helps maintain uninterrupted operations for the facility and its multi-national workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow all environmental health, safety, and quality assurance rules and objectives, and supply those teams with information and materials needed for adequate legal documentation.
- Use test lamps, ammeters, voltmeters, and similar diagnostic tools to track down problems in brakes, motors, switches, and signal or control systems.
- Take apart malfunctioning assemblies, then repair or swap out components such as locks, gears, cables, and failed safety devices.
- Apply lubricants to bearings and other moving parts to reduce friction and wear.
- Install or fix transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, and other power transmission equipment. Use blueprints, drawings, layouts, and specifications to locate and troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Carry out preventive maintenance according to published schedules, operating procedures, and warranty terms. Suggest improvements to the scope and frequency of maintenance tasks.
- Test equipment with voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, continuity testers, feeler gauges, frequency counters, and other standard trade instruments.
- Handle other job-related duties as assigned that fit the nature and level of the position.
Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Apprenticeship completion with a Journeyman certificate and/or equivalent field experience.
- Experience reading sketches, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer operations and maintenance manuals.
- Knowledge of applicable European and/or U.S. electrical codes and accepted trade practices.
- Familiarity with annual maintenance requirements for electrical and mechanical systems and load testing procedures.
- Knowledge of the principles and processes for operating and maintaining elevators at an overseas facility.
- Understanding of workplace safety practices and correct handling of equipment and materials.
- Experience delivering excellent customer service.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks at once, and adapt quickly to changing priorities and schedules.
