Job Description

Role Overview

This position keeps electrical and electronic equipment running reliably through installation, repair, maintenance, and systematic troubleshooting. The technician also performs inspections and diagnostic tests, documents work accurately, and ensures every task follows NAVFAC MO-200, safety, and electrical code requirements. Because the work can involve international deployment and austere locations, the role calls for someone who is both technically precise and comfortable adapting to demanding operational settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, service, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical and electronic equipment so systems remain fully operational.
  • Run tests, inspections, and diagnostic checks on electrical and electronic systems, then isolate and resolve faults.
  • Apply NAVFAC MO-200 requirements, including required training and certification, when working on or around electrical or electronic equipment.
  • Keep clear, accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities in line with organizational and regulatory expectations.
  • Use technical manuals, wiring schematics, and diagrams to guide repairs, modifications, and system adjustments.
  • Follow safety rules, electrical codes, and operational requirements during all work activities.
  • Coordinate with supervisors and team members to schedule and complete maintenance and repair tasks on time.
  • Take part in continuing education to renew certifications and keep skills aligned with new technology and NAVFAC standards.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • One to three years of hands-on experience maintaining and repairing electrical and electronic equipment.
  • BICSI Registered Technician Level certification or higher. If BICSI certification is not held, at least three years of experience installing specified copper and fiber optic cable and components using standards-based methods.
  • Manufacturer or telecommunications-industry certification for every product line the technician will install and test, confirming they are qualified to perform that work.
  • Training and certification for electrical or electronic equipment work as required by NAVFAC MO-200.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, wiring schematics, and electronic manuals.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid passport with at least one year of remaining validity at hire, and ability to travel internationally.
  • Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain them throughout deployment.
  • Ability to obtain country-specific visas under the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials or authorization.
  • English reading, speaking, and comprehension sufficient to carry out contract requirements and follow installation emergency procedures.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a closely related field.
  • Experience with NAVFAC standards and electrical or electronic equipment maintenance in a military or industrial environment.
  • Prior work in an austere OCONUS setting with a multi-national workforce.
  • Valid country driver's license.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability in an operational environment.
