Role Overview
This entry-level technician role supports electrical and electronics service work for customers around Karen, Nairobi. You will work with experienced technicians to install, test, maintain, and repair equipment, while also handling basic fault diagnosis and customer support. The position is important because it helps keep client systems running, keeps service records accurate, and uncovers additional service or product needs during site visits.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with installing and commissioning electrical and electronic equipment at customer locations, including checking connections, settings, and start-up operations.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot straightforward faults in circuits, electronic components, and connected equipment using standard test instruments.
- Perform routine servicing, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs to reduce equipment downtime and extend service life.
- Support senior technicians on larger repairs, upgrades, and installation projects by preparing tools, materials, and testing equipment.
- Test components and equipment, and refer to wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals to guide fault-finding and repair work.
- Maintain service logs and prepare basic reports covering repairs, installations, maintenance visits, and technical findings for supervisors.
- Visit customer sites for inspections, repairs, or installations, respond to basic technical queries, and identify possible additional products or technical services that may benefit the customer.
- Keep tools, test equipment, and work areas clean, organised, and safe, following all company and site safety procedures.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply; no prior formal work experience is required.
- Basic knowledge of electrical and electronic systems and familiarity with common testing tools such as multimeters, continuity testers, and test lamps.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work through simple faults logically.
- Ability to read and interpret basic electrical/electronic diagrams and technical manuals.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with customers, supervisors, and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently on routine tasks and also contribute effectively within a team.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites when required.
- A valid driving licence is an added advantage.
What We Offer / Why Join
This is a full-time role based in Karen, Nairobi, with a basic salary of KES 20,000 per month. Commission is also available and is earned based on performance and successful sales or service opportunities. The position gives an entry-level technician practical exposure to installation, maintenance, fault diagnosis, and customer-facing technical support while working alongside more experienced colleagues.
