Job Description

Role Overview

You will be the electrical backbone of a pharmaceutical manufacturing site, making sure that every motor, sensor, control panel, and power distribution system runs without interruption during batch production. Your day-to-day work spans planned preventive maintenance, urgent fault diagnosis, and hands-on installation of new equipment — always with an eye on strictly regulated GMP standards. By keeping production lines electrically sound, you directly protect product quality, safety, and on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective electrical maintenance on pharmaceutical production equipment including mixers, granulators, tablet presses, filling lines, and HVAC systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical faults swiftly to minimise downtime, using schematics, multimeters, and motor control circuit knowledge.
  • Lead the electrical installation of new machinery and upgrade existing systems, ensuring all work follows site safety procedures and GMP requirements.
  • Develop and update electrical maintenance procedures, work instructions, and logbooks in compliance with pharmaceutical documentation standards.
  • Collaborate with maintenance engineers and production supervisors to plan maintenance windows that avoid disrupting scheduled manufacturing runs.
  • Support equipment qualification activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) by providing electrical testing data and validating that installations meet specification.
  • Maintain an organised inventory of spare parts, fuses, relays, contactors, and sensors to prevent avoidable delays during breakdowns.
  • Serve as the electrical point of contact during internal and external audits, demonstrating the reliability and traceability of your maintenance work.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A degree or diploma in electrical engineering, electrical technology, or a related discipline.
  • At least five years of hands-on experience working on electrical systems within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production equipment such as motors, pumps, drives, and automated machine controls.
  • Solid understanding of GMP, SOPs, and safety standards applicable to electrical work in regulated cleanrooms or production zones.
  • Practical knowledge of reading electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and control wiring drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a systematic approach to root-cause analysis and preventive action.
  • Willingness to work in a team, communicate clearly with non-electrical colleagues, and occasionally support shift coverage during critical breakdowns.
