Job Description
Role Overview
This role focuses on keeping all electrical and mechanical equipment at the plant running reliably through a mix of scheduled preventive care, condition monitoring, and rapid response to breakdowns. Day to day, you will inspect machines, log performance data, troubleshoot faults, and coordinate with the electrical team to minimise downtime. Your work directly supports production efficiency, safety standards, and the longer lifespan of critical plant assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve maintenance schedules for electrical and mechanical machinery, including preventive and condition-based routines.
- Diagnose electrical equipment failures by testing and inspecting components, then prescribe and execute corrective actions to restore normal operation.
- Monitor machine performance during shifts—recording pressures, temperatures, energy use, running hours, and scale accuracy—to detect early signs of trouble.
- Initiate purchase requisitions for spare parts needed for maintenance, and report any misuse of assets such as machines, tools, or spares.
- Carry out modifications and small innovations on equipment to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Perform basic maintenance on plant utilities including generators and compressors, and support upkeep of building structures and facilities at both the plant and central support office.
- Log all work details accurately in data records and job cards, and review logged information to track performance and support decision-making.
- Support SHE (Safety, Health, Environment), ERM, 6K, PaTaMu, GMP/FSMS initiatives, and coach team members on quality, food safety, and continuous improvement using PDCA methods.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a busy manufacturing environment.
- Proven knowledge of predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance practices, as well as electrical installations.
- Competence in troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems, problem-solving, team coordination, planning, and decision-making.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage people effectively.
- Hands-on experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and SCADA systems is highly valued.
