Role Overview
You will be responsible for delivering both theoretical and practical instruction to students in your area of specialisation, using the college’s approved training curriculum. Your daily work involves preparing lessons, facilitating hands-on learning, and assessing each learner’s progress to help them meet the competency standards required in their field. This role is central to ensuring that graduates leave with the practical skills and discipline demanded by employers in the relevant industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct structured classroom sessions and hands-on practical demonstrations in your specialised subject area.
- Prepare course outlines, lesson plans, teaching aids, and assessment tools that align with the prescribed TVET curriculum.
- Assess students through written tests, practical tasks, and observation, then provide timely and constructive feedback.
- Maintain up-to-date records of attendance, learner progress, examination marks, and competency attainment.
- Supervise students during laboratory, workshop, and fieldwork sessions, ensuring strict adherence to safety guidelines.
- Support slower learners with remedial coaching and recommend interventions where needed to improve outcomes.
- Participate in departmental planning, quality assurance reviews, and continuous curriculum improvement activities.
- Refresh your own industry knowledge and trainer credentials to keep lessons current with workplace practice.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Valid TVETA Trainer License in the relevant area of specialisation (mandatory).
- Diploma or higher qualification in the subject area to be taught, gained from a recognised institution.
- Relevant professional experience in the industry related to your teaching field.
- Prior teaching or training experience at a TVET institution is an added advantage.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts for learners.
- Demonstrated ability to design practical exercises and assess hands-on competence effectively.
- Good classroom management and record-keeping skills.
