Role Overview
As a Direct Sales Representative, you will act as the front line of growth for a banking client, spending your days in the field and at customer touchpoints turning prospects into active account holders. You will own the full acquisition cycle — from first contact and product explanation through account opening, cross-selling, and follow-up — while keeping deposit and loan targets on track. This role matters because the breadth and quality of the customer base you build directly shapes the bank's revenue, loyalty, and reputation in the market.
Key Responsibilities
- Open new customer accounts to a high standard, collecting complete and accurate documentation and ensuring every applicant is properly onboarded.
- Introduce and cross-sell the bank's digital banking products to both newly acquired and existing customers, guiding them through activation and first use.
- Meet assigned targets for deposit mobilisation, sourcing funds from individual and business customers.
- Originate and support the disbursement of quality loans to individual and business borrowers, assessing suitability and maintaining lending standards.
- Deliver responsive, high-quality service and creatively match customers with the products and services that fit their needs.
- Drive retention by regularly re-engaging customers on the bank's product portfolio, gathering feedback, and escalating improvement opportunities to your supervisor.
- Keep a steady flow of new business coming in and submit daily, weekly, and monthly activity reports to your line manager.
- Take on additional duties assigned by your supervisor or line manager as business needs arise.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in a business-related discipline.
- Demonstrable experience in a sales role, with a track record of hitting or exceeding targets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage customers face to face.
- Strong negotiation ability and sound problem-solving and decision-making judgement.
- Effective networking and people management skills, including the ability to build and sustain a healthy sales pipeline.
- Working knowledge of industry rules and regulations relevant to banking products and customer onboarding.
- A results-driven, customer-focused mindset with the self-discipline to work independently.
