Role Overview
You will be the face of the bank in the field, actively identifying and engaging individuals and businesses who can benefit from our financial products. Your primary focus is to open new accounts, revive inactive ones, and increase the uptake of existing services through direct outreach, presentations, and follow-up. By feeding customer insights back to the sales leadership, you will help shape how the bank positions its offerings in a competitive market.
Key Responsibilities
- Prospect and contact potential customers through field visits, calls, and referrals, presenting tailored solutions that match their banking needs.
- Cross-sell the bank’s product suite—savings, loans, cards, and digital services—to both new and existing clients to maximise account usage and loyalty.
- Follow up on dormant or underfunded accounts, encouraging customers to activate and regularly use their accounts through clear communication of benefits.
- Maintain an up-to-date sales database, logging every interaction, referral source, and follow-up action to ensure no lead goes cold.
- Gather market intelligence during field assignments, noting customer pain points, competitor activity, and emerging trends, and share these findings with supervisors.
- Support marketing campaigns and branch activations by promoting new products on the ground and engaging with the public to build brand awareness.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports that capture pipeline progress, conversion rates, and revenue potential for management review.
- Deliver compelling product presentations to prospective customers, clearly explaining account features, regulatory requirements, and the value of banking with us.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A diploma in Sales & Marketing; a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or Public Relations is preferred.
- Professional sales certifications or formal sales training will be an added advantage.
- At least one year of relevant experience in field sales, business development, or customer-facing banking roles, with a demonstrable record of meeting targets.
- Strong selling, negotiation, and closing skills, combined with a customer-first mindset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to make persuasive presentations to diverse audiences.
- Sound knowledge of banking products and services, plus an understanding of CBK prudential guidelines, KYC norms, and account opening procedures.
- Highly organised and self-driven, able to plan daily routes and tasks with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in MS Office applications—Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access—as well as email and internet research.
- Demonstrates diplomacy, patience, reliability, and high ethical standards in all customer dealings.
