This position bridges high-precision clinical surgery with proactive patient education; you will perform complex restorative, endodontic, and surgical procedures while guiding families on preventative oral hygiene. The role demands a clinically sound, ethically driven practitioner who can seamlessly mentor junior dental assistants, manage specialized supply inventories, and maintain absolute compliance with national clinical guidelines.
Scope of Responsibilities
Diagnostic & Clinical Treatment Delivery
- Examine, diagnose, and treat oral pathologies, dental decay, periodontal diseases, and localized maxillofacial injuries.
- Perform high-quality restorative procedures, endodontic therapies (root canals), crown and bridge fittings, and complex surgical extractions.
- Formulate comprehensive, patient-specific treatment plans, coordinating specialized referral pathways when clinically indicated.
- Administer local anesthetics safely and prescribe appropriate post-procedure pharmacotherapy, monitoring patients for adverse reactions.
Patient Education & Wellness Advocacy
- Educate patients and their families on systemic oral hygiene, preventative maintenance, dietary impacts on dental health, and plaque control.
- Demystify complex surgical procedures to patients to reduce clinical anxiety and ensure informed treatment consent.
- Lead community dental health initiatives and patient engagement programs designed to drive clinical awareness and increase department visits.
Departmental Leadership & Team Collaboration
- Supervise, mentor, and build the clinical capacity of junior dental assistants and oral health technicians to maintain high-quality care.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary clinical staff and laboratory technicians to synchronize patient treatment workflows.
- Keep precise, highly confidential electronic and physical patient health records in strict compliance with medical data regulations.
Asset Care & Regulatory Compliance
- Oversee the inventory management of dental consumables, materials, and specialized handpieces to guarantee zero service interruptions.
- Ensure all dental operatories, autoclaves, and radiographic equipment conform to strict sterilization, radiation, and safety guidelines.
- Adhere rigidly to clinical protocols, infection control standards, and quality management policies established by the facility.
Skills & Experience Required
Minimum Entry Criteria
- Academic Foundation: Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
- Licensing & Registration: Valid, active registration certificate and a current practicing license issued by the KMPDC.
- Risk Management: Must possess a valid, active professional indemnity insurance cover.
- Clinical Longevity: At least 3 years of continuous, hands-on work experience managing a diverse patient caseload within a busy dental clinic or hospital setup.
- Language & Hours: Professional fluency in written and spoken English, with absolute availability to cover full-time shift schedules (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM).
Core Competencies
- Surgical Precision: Outstanding manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and spatial awareness to execute delicate intraoral procedures safely.
- Diagnostic Judgment: Sharp analytical skills to interpret dental radiographs, diagnose complex pathologies, and make sound clinical decisions under pressure.
- Compassionate Care: High levels of empathy, patience, and professional integrity to manage pediatric, geriatric, and anxious patients gently.
What We Offer
- Competitive Remuneration: A highly attractive gross monthly salary of KSh 150,000 – 200,000, reflective of your experience and clinical expertise.
