Role Overview
You will join the central data engineering function that powers International Health Delivery Services by operating the company’s main data integration hub. This hub takes in information from policy administration systems and many other sources, then transforms and routes it to the web portals, internal applications, and external partners that rely on it. In this role, you will build and maintain those data flows daily, working alongside senior engineers to shape how our data solutions are structured, coded, and improved.
Your work directly affects the stability and accuracy of critical business systems. Whether you are writing complex queries, fixing a failed batch process, or documenting a new data mapping, your contribution ensures that downstream consumers receive trustworthy data on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, code, test, and maintain ETL routines and data integration solutions using SQL Server technologies.
- Resolve SQL Server performance problems and diagnose issues across stored procedures, jobs, and data feeds.
- Collaborate with senior database developers to document technical requirements, propose solution designs, and participate in project workshops.
- Develop and modify T-SQL objects such as stored procedures, views, and functions to support both steady-state operations and project delivery.
- Model data mappings and work with business and technical stakeholders to agree on the most effective transformation logic.
- Support regular release cycles and monitor scheduled batch workloads to ensure they complete correctly and on time.
- Review existing code and processes, then recommend practical improvements to tooling, efficiency, and team workflow.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least five years of hands-on experience developing and supporting SQL Server based solutions.
- Strong T-SQL ability, including writing complex stored procedures, views, scalar and table-valued functions.
- Deep understanding of relational database concepts, query plans, indexing, and performance tuning.
- Proven experience building ETL pipelines with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
- Working knowledge of both OLTP and OLAP environments and how each shapes data modelling decisions.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to reverse engineer unfamiliar or legacy code.
- Comfort working within Agile delivery teams and adapting to changing priorities.
- Desirable: familiarity with C# or Python, exposure to modern data technologies such as PySpark and Databricks, basic cloud experience, knowledge of Git and CI/CD practices, and comfort using AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot or Cursor.
- Desirable: experience working with health insurance, healthcare, or similarly regulated data domains.
What We Offer / Why Join
This is an opportunity to work within a team that sits at the centre of the data ecosystem, giving you visibility into many systems and projects across the organisation. You will be encouraged to contribute your own ideas and to keep your technical skills current through ongoing training and learning.
You will also collaborate with colleagues across multiple technology disciplines and geographic locations, which broadens your perspective and helps you grow as an engineer.
