Job Description

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Head of Research and Innovation you will be responsible for mining, collecting, analyzing, and storing data with the aim of using it to help the Sacco make informed strategic choices to enable profitable business decision making and increase efficiency/effective of both operations and customer service activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute end-to-end data analysis by collecting, cleaning, and analyzing large datasets to generate actionable insights that support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Design and implement statistical, predictive, and data mining models to enhance business performance, forecasting, and risk management.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualization tools to present complex data in a clear and user-friendly manner for stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with business units, data owners, and ICT teams to define data requirements, integrate insights into systems, and support data-driven initiatives.
  • Ensure data integrity, quality, and governance by implementing appropriate controls, validation processes, and best practices in data management.
  • Drive innovation by identifying new data sources, improving analytical methods, and recommending tools, technologies, and process enhancements.
  • Monitor and optimize data systems and analytical processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Minimum of six (6) years’ relevant experience
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, Oracle, R, Python, MATLAB
  • Knowledge of database design, data mining techniques, and data modeling
  • Experience with reporting tools (e.g., Business Objects) and ETL frameworks
  • Proficiency in statistical tools such as Excel, SPSS, and SAS
  • Familiarity with data platforms such as Hadoop and Apache Spark
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Tableau and Qlik
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to write queries, reports, and make presentations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
