Customer Insights Data Analyst
Posted:
The Customer Insights Data Analyst, reports to the Senior Data Analyst. The split is deliberate: 70% data analysis, 30% UX research support. You'll own quantitative work; Python or R pipelines, Looker dashboards, segmentation, cohort analysis, survey design and administration while also supporting the qualitative side: hypothesis development, thematic coding, and mixed-methods studies. It's a genuinely hybrid role, and that's by design.
What You'll be doing
- Building and maintaining dashboards in Looker that track customer behaviour across five African markets; running segmentation, cohort, and A/B analyses in Python or R; designing, deploying, and managing surveys end-to-end using Survey To Go including fieldwork coordination and data cleaning pipelines.
- Coding and tagging qualitative data using approved thematic frameworks, contributing to AI-assisted coding tools, and supporting hypothesis development before qualitative research begins so the quantitative and qualitative work genuinely talk to each other.
- Translating findings into exec-level outputs; charts, dashboards, summary slides and occasionally travelling to M-KOPA markets for in-field data collection; all while handling PII in line with M-KOPA policy and applicable national law.
What You'll bring
- Demonstrable experience in a data analyst or mixed-methods research role, with a track record of producing outputs that non-technical stakeholders actually use and act on.
- Hands-on Looker capability - building dashboards from scratch, not just maintaining existing ones alongside working Python or R skills and familiarity with field survey tools in low-connectivity environments.
- Some UX research exposure: you understand how qualitative data gets coded, what a usability study involves, and why the 70/30 split in this role is a feature, not a compromise.
