Role Overview
This is a hands-on programme delivery role for someone who is equally comfortable designing a community intervention and standing in front of a county stakeholder forum explaining its results. Working across Bungoma, Turkana and Kilifi Counties, the post-holder turns programme plans into activities on the ground: mobilising communities, coordinating partners, tracking budgets and reporting on outcomes. The position sits at the point where strategy meets implementation, so it directly shapes whether children, young people and their communities actually benefit from the support the organisation commits to.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and deliver community-level programme activities in the assigned county, translating workplans into schedules, budgets and clear responsibilities for field teams and partners.
- Build and sustain long-term partnerships with community structures, relevant state departments, civil society organisations and corporate partners, keeping relationships productive and mutually beneficial.
- Apply Child & Youth Safeguarding standards across every activity, including partner engagements, volunteer involvement and community events, and escalate concerns through the correct channels.
- Manage activity budgets, monitor expenditure against plans and prepare both financial and narrative programme reports for internal and donor audiences.
- Carry out routine monitoring, capture results and lessons learned, and feed evidence back into programme design and reporting cycles.
- Facilitate community sensitisation sessions, training workshops and stakeholder meetings, and represent the organisation at county-level and partner convenings.
- Supervise and support field staff, volunteers and community focal points, ensuring they have the guidance and information needed to deliver quality work.
- Maintain accurate programme records and data in organisational systems and databases, and contribute concept notes and ideas that strengthen or extend programme reach.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Development Studies, Project Management, Community Development Studies or another related social science discipline.
- At least three years of relevant working experience, preferably gained within an NGO setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of, and practical experience applying, Child & Youth Safeguarding guidelines.
- Proven ability to conceptualise, innovate within and manage programmes from planning through to reporting.
- Track record of cultivating long-term partnerships with local communities, key state departments, CSOs and corporate organisations.
- Experience preparing and monitoring budgets and producing financial reports.
- Strong communication, facilitation, presentation and representation skills, with the confidence to engage audiences of different backgrounds.
- Solid computer literacy, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and comfort working with databases.
- Well-developed organisational, analytical and programmatic reporting abilities, with the capacity to plan, prioritise and follow through to results.
- Ability to work under pressure, make sound decisions and juggle competing tasks without losing attention to detail.
- Enthusiastic, decisive, pragmatic and dynamic, with a hands-on approach, a sense of urgency and genuine thoroughness.
- Note: for the Bungoma, Turkana and Kilifi County positions, female candidates and candidates fluent in the local dialect have an added advantage.
What We Offer / Why Join
- Direct, day-to-day contact with the communities your work is designed to serve, rather than a purely desk-based role.

- A partnership-rich environment that puts you in regular contact with county government departments, civil society and corporate stakeholders.
- A safeguarding-conscious working culture where child and youth protection standards are treated as non-negotiable.
