Role Overview
This position centres on taking full ownership of retail showroom projects from the first site survey through to grand opening. You will be the person who turns a branded concept into a built, customer-ready space, balancing design intent, construction reality, timelines, and budgets. Your work directly shapes how the brand appears to customers in every location, so consistency and quality control are at the heart of everything you do.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and refine the company’s store identity standards, including the showroom manual, renovation procedures, and inspection protocols, ensuring every new store follows the same playbook.
- Visit potential and existing store locations to take measurements, assess site conditions, and contribute to layout planning and spatial design decisions.
- Review and approve design concepts, construction drawings, material boards, and cost estimates before any work begins, flagging risks and making sure brand requirements are met.
- Create detailed project timelines and drive day-to-day construction progress, checking workmanship, materials, and safety compliance against approved plans.
- Organise and lead final inspections and handover processes, ensuring every showroom is finished to the required standard and ready for retail operations.
- Identify, vet, and manage external contractors and material suppliers, negotiating scopes of work and holding teams accountable for quality and deadlines.
- Prepare and monitor project budgets, review change orders and material substitutions, and recommend cost-saving alternatives without compromising design integrity.
- Coordinate with sales, marketing, and operations teams to align store opening dates, promotional needs, and any last-minute adjustments, while also coaching and supporting the internal construction team.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in interior design, architecture, civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- At least three years of hands-on experience in retail showroom fit-out or store construction project management.
- A track record of delivering 20 or more retail store projects is strongly preferred, demonstrating the ability to manage multiple sites and competing priorities.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential; working knowledge of 3D Max and Adobe Photoshop will help you review designs and communicate with contractors effectively.
- Solid understanding of brand visual identity and store identity systems, interior detailing, construction methods, and finishing works.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, control costs, and keep projects on schedule without sacrificing quality.
- Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work confidently across departments and with external vendors.
- Excellent planning and problem-solving skills, plus a keen eye for detail and the composure to handle pressure during tight opening timelines.
- Familiarity with digital construction or project management tools is an advantage, as is prior experience with established retail or chain brands.
