Job Description

Role Overview

This position sits within the Transformation Delivery department, where business analysts are assigned to projects according to the organisation's shifting priorities rather than being tied to a single product or function. Depending on the assignment, you may be unpicking people, process and procedural challenges that carry no technology element at all, or translating complex system, data and integration needs into something delivery teams can design, build and test against. Your work is the connective tissue between business functions and IT — establishing how things run today, agreeing what the future state should look like, and keeping that understanding documented, current and accessible so decisions hold up long after the project closes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Elicit, analyse and document requirements across three fronts: people and capability building, process and procedure, and the platforms that underpin them.
  • Translate business needs into requirements that architects, engineers and testers can act on, and work alongside test engineers to shape test cases that trace directly back to what was agreed.
  • Act as the reference point for business processes within your project area, enabling cross-functional collaboration and preventing knowledge from being rebuilt from scratch by each new team.
  • Deliver value in increments with the project team, putting usable improvements in front of users as the work progresses rather than only at the end.
  • Surface conflicting requirements, definition gaps and cross-project dependencies early, and escalate them to the project manager with a proposed route to resolution.
  • Support the prioritisation of design requirements by giving the team an informed picture of how each option affects the wider organisation.
  • Maintain accurate, version-controlled documentation throughout the project lifecycle, keeping it reachable for key stakeholders and ensuring knowledge is genuinely shared.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the Business Analysis methodology, including its associated processes and templates.

Requirements & Qualifications

Essential

  • Proven experience as a business analyst on complex transformation projects or programmes.
  • Experience discovering and documenting business requirements, and collaborating with test engineers to define test cases against them.
  • Ability to model business processes and convert those models into system requirements.
  • Analytical strength in interrogating data, drawing out actionable insight and solving problems using a range of structured techniques.
  • Working knowledge of business analysis tools and methodologies such as UML, BPMN and software development lifecycle (SDLC) frameworks, including evidence of adapting a methodology to suit a previous organisation rather than applying it rigidly.
  • Ability to collaborate across functions — particularly Solution Architecture and Test Engineering — to drive alignment, integration and shared outcomes, while building trusted relationships with colleagues and partners.
  • Confidence engaging a wide range of stakeholders to understand their needs, priorities and constraints, backed by exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to convey complex concepts clearly and persuasively.
  • Demonstrated skill in facilitating productive workshops, ideally in multi-cultural settings.
  • Proficiency in conflict resolution techniques to mediate stakeholder disagreements and keep projects on track.
  • Ability to prioritise your own work effectively and agree those priorities with relevant leaders.
  • Cultural awareness and experience delivering solutions internationally.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Understanding of a structured project methodology (for example PRINCE2) or accredited project management training (APM or PMI).

Desirable

  • Familiarity with project management tools such as JIRA or Trello, and office suites including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Non-profit sector knowledge or experience, particularly on international development projects.
  • A second language — French, Spanish or Arabic.
