Construction Manager – Mid-level and Senior Roles

Role Overview

You will take end-to-end ownership of building and upgrading the on-site infrastructure—tank systems, water circulation networks, hatcheries, and heavy machinery installations—at a fast-scaling tilapia operation. Your days will be split between hands-on oversight of crews in the field, coordinating with engineering and design teams on technical blueprints, and ensuring every project stays on budget and on schedule. Because the farm is expanding quickly, the work you do now lays the groundwork for future growth; strong performance can open the door to leading new facilities in other regions.

Key Responsibilities

• Run multiple construction projects from site preparation through final commissioning, including concrete work, piping, electrical, and mechanical integration for fish production units.
• Lead front-line teams of supervisors, foremen, and labourers, assigning daily tasks, tracking progress, and resolving bottlenecks before they delay milestones.
• Enforce rigorous safety protocols and emergency-response procedures across all worksites; conduct regular inspections and drills to keep standards high.
• Analyse site conditions—soil, water flow, topography—and review technical drawings, feasibility studies, and material specs to ensure designs are buildable and cost-effective.
• Work alongside procurement to source construction materials and heavy equipment, verifying specifications and delivery timelines match project needs.
• Prevent downtime by scheduling proactive maintenance for pumps, aerators, generators, and other operational machinery; step in to troubleshoot failures as they arise.
• Monitor budgets, track expenditures, and produce progress reports for senior management, flagging risks early and recommending corrective actions.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a closely related technical field.
• Proven track record managing construction projects in an industrial or agricultural setting (aquaculture, food processing, or similar)—typically at least 5–7 years.
• Hands-on experience preparing and interpreting Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and using project planning software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
• Strong supervisory and site-coordination abilities, with a history of leading diverse crews to meet tight deadlines.
• Willingness to learn unfamiliar technologies and processes; ability to implement new systems and train teams from scratch.
• Disciplined communicator who can present clear updates and data-driven recommendations to executives and non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills; comfortable juggling multiple workstreams without missing details.
• Demonstrated integrity, high personal standards, and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
• Full professional fluency in English (written and spoken).
• Preferred: Experience handling procurement for construction materials and managing maintenance of heavy equipment (e.g., pumps, generators, earthmoving machinery).
