Compliance Officer - Roving

Role Overview

This role is the front line of a humanitarian organisation's integrity framework. Day to day, you receive and triage incoming complaints, lead fact-gathering interviews, and draft every piece of investigation documentation from plans to final reports. Your work ensures that compliance gaps are identified early, corrective actions are tracked to completion, and a culture of speaking up about ethics is actively fostered across the country programme.

Key Responsibilities

• Screen and prioritise incoming complaints to decide the appropriate response pathway.
• Prepare investigation plans, witness statements, and all supporting evidence packets.
• Conduct structured interviews with complainants, subjects, and witnesses following established procedures.
• Identify, gather, and analyse documentary and digital evidence to substantiate findings.
• Write comprehensive investigation reports with clear findings and actionable recommendations.
• Follow up on corrective action plans to ensure they are implemented and effective.
• Perform system reviews alongside programme and operations teams to spot compliance weaknesses.
• Design and deliver training sessions that reinforce ethical behaviour and reporting obligations.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology, Law, Finance, or a related social science field.
• A minimum of five years of professional experience in investigations, compliance, or a related area.
• Proven ability to analyse data and distil critical information for decision-making.
• Strong planning and organisational skills, with the capacity to communicate accurately and quickly under changing priorities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili.
• Demonstrated analytical, presentation, and reporting skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• High degree of integrity, professionalism, and self-motivation, with a sense of urgency.
• Commitment to the mission, purpose, and core values of the International Rescue Committee.
