Role Overview
This position places you at the centre of urban and peri-urban solar sales, where you will own both the growth of a referral-driven sales network and the financial health of the credit portfolio it generates. Day to day, you will be out in the field coaching referral agents, closing sales yourself, checking that every installation is genuine and compliant, and taking immediate action on accounts that fall behind. The business depends on you to catch problems early—every completed job gets a site visit within 72 hours, and every non-paying customer gets a response the same day—so you must combine sales energy with disciplined follow-through.
Key Responsibilities
- Mentor, shadow, and performance-manage referral agents across urban and peri-urban territories, keeping the network active and engaged rather than simply recruiting new members.
- Track every referral lead through the SOL.RM Prospecting App and provide hands-on support to turn those leads into closed sales.
- Directly pitch and close solar home systems and mobile phone solutions in key catchment areas that the referral network does not cover.
- Support in-store sales campaigns and activation events at peri-urban service centers to lift walk-in conversion.
- Maintain working relationships with onboarded third-party partners—mobile phone dealers, local contractors, and electricians—to ensure a steady flow of referrals.
- Conduct a 72-hour validation site visit for every completed installation, checking it against approved forms and standard operating procedures.
- Respond on the same day to any non-performing account, either resolving it directly or escalating to the Collections Department when needed.
- Immediately escalate suspected fraud—fabricated leads, ghost sign-ups, or pressure-selling by referral agents—as well as any closed sale that cannot be onboarded the same day.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Business Administration or a related discipline.
- At least six years of experience in a service subscription, microfinance, or asset financing environment, with a proven record of leading a team.
- Demonstrated success in sales, specifically in loan sales and managing credit/debt portfolios.
- Experience developing sales strategies and loan collection strategies that deliver measurable results.
- Working proficiency in Microsoft Windows and standard office software.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to influence agents, partners, and customers.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks under pressure and meet deadlines while keeping a constructive, positive attitude.
- High personal integrity, professionalism, confidentiality, and maturity—especially when handling sensitive customer data and cash-related processes.
- Flexible work style; comfortable picking up new tasks or projects independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the agility to adapt quickly to changing field conditions.
