Position Title: Commercial Supervisor

Direct Line Reporting: Sales Manager

Industry Sector: FMCG / Manufacturing

Gross Salary Structure: Kshs. 75,000 – 125,000

Location: Ukunda, Kwale County (Coast Region)

Job Summary

We are seeking a commercially sharp, territory-savvy Commercial Supervisor to accelerate market penetration and manage distribution operations across the Coast region from our hub in Ukunda, Kwale County. Your primary focus will be to implement regional growth frameworks, driving product availability across General Trade networks, retail distribution hubs, and premium hospitality accounts. This position bridges high-level route-to-market design with hands-on trade activation; you will coordinate distributor performance metrics, evaluate on-shelf visibility standards, and build lasting partnerships with key hotel and restaurant procurement managers. The role calls for a target-driven professional with deep local market intelligence who can work independently to translate commercial targets into permanent market share.

Core Responsibilities

Territory Growth & Channel Management

  • Execute the company's comprehensive route-to-market strategy across the Coast region, opening up untapped retail territories and scaling consumer demand.
  • Monitor General Trade (GT) distribution systems closely, recruiting new wholesale accounts and retail outlets to eliminate product gaps.
  • Collaborate daily with multi-tier distributors, stockists, and merchant partners to secure consistent product availability and dominant shelf spaces.
  • Drive operational foot traffic and neighborhood sales volumes for the factory outlet through localized micro-activations and consumer outreach.
  • Audit regional pricing models, gather real-time competitor intelligence, and draft actionable trend briefings for executive sales management.

Trade Marketing & Hospitality Alliances

  • Design, schedule, and run high-impact regional marketing campaigns, open-air promotions, and local field activations.
  • Deepen brand footprint across the hospitality sector, pitching supply agreements directly to boutique hotels, restaurants, and beach lounges.
  • Cultivate and protect high-value institutional accounts, ensuring our product catalog remains the primary choice for coastal hospitality buyers.
  • Enforce strict point-of-sale branding frameworks, managing merchandising teams to ensure uniform display compliance across all stores.
  • Coordinate corporate logistics for regional trade fairs, agricultural exhibitions, and community marketing events.

Retail Optimization & Account Support

  • Audit active retail locations frequently, reviewing stock velocity and recommending product restock points to store owners.
  • Grade the performance of point-of-sale materials, taking instant correction measures when corporate branding displays are neglected.
  • Resolve customer service issues and logistical delivery bottlenecks promptly, improving overall customer satisfaction metrics across the region.
  • Launch field feedback programs to capture shifting consumer tastes and improve business-to-business relations within the trade territory.

Cross-Functional Alignment & Analytics

  • Act as the vital communication bridge between coastal field units, warehouse dispatch teams, and head office commercial personnel.
  • Track, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), individual distributor volumes, and campaign return metrics.
  • Compile clear weekly sales overviews, field activity logs, and immediate threat briefs for senior leadership review.
  • Coordinate the localized rollout of new product variations and promotional campaigns across all regional trade loops.

Skills & Experience Required

Minimum Entry Criteria

  • Academic Foundation: Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Sales, or a matching commercial discipline.
  • Professional Longevity: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in field sales, trade marketing, or commercial territory coordination.
  • Sector Background: Proven track record working directly within a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) or high-volume manufacturing firm.
  • Geographical Fluency: Comprehensive structural understanding of the Coast region’s retail setups, transport routes, and distinct hospitality purchase patterns.

Tactical Attributes

  • Relationship Command: Exceptional networking capabilities to build immediate trust with local casual wholesalers and luxury hotel chefs alike.
  • Negotiation Capability: Articulate communication style with a strong capacity to secure profitable supply agreements and resolve contract hitches independently.
  • Operational Independence: Highly organized self-starter who can manage complex field priorities across multiple coastal towns with minimal oversight.

What We Offer

  • Strategic Territory Control: Take absolute operational command over a high-potential, economically vital commercial region with clear decision-making leeway.
  • Diverse Market Exposure: Build a unique professional profile by balancing traditional general trade distributions with high-end corporate hospitality account management.
  • Clear Career Trajectory: Accelerate your executive leadership footprint within an expanding FMCG company that rewards metric achievement with swift upward promotion.
