As the client’s representative on site, this role ensures that construction works at the CITAM Rongai and CITAM Eldoret projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the quality expected by the church and its stakeholders. You will be the dependable daily presence on the ground, inspecting works, flagging issues before they escalate, and keeping the project’s consultants, contractors, and project manager aligned. This is a hands-on role for a detail-driven Christian professional who wants to safeguard the integrity of buildings that will serve the church community for decades.
Role Overview
The Clerk of Works acts as the client’s eyes and ears on site, carrying out regular inspections, overseeing quality control, and verifying that all construction activity aligns with approved drawings, contract requirements, and relevant standards. You will track progress against programme schedules, maintain clear and accurate records, and support the smooth flow of information between the project team and church leadership. Your diligence directly protects the church’s investment and ensures a safe, compliant, and well-finished project at each location.

- Check the quality of materials and workmanship, ensuring that construction methods meet project specifications and industry-recognised quality assurance standards.
- Identify any defective, substandard, or non-compliant work and work with contractors to implement timely corrective measures.
- Track project progress against the approved work programme, highlighting delays, risks, or deviations to the Projects Manager with clear reports and recommendations.
- Maintain daily site diaries and accurate records covering progress, inspections, labour and plant usage, weather conditions, and notable site events.
- Attend site and coordination meetings, prepare technical reports, and liaise with consultants, architects, engineers, government authorities, and other stakeholders for approvals and inspections.
- Ensure full adherence to occupational health and safety regulations, environmental obligations, permit conditions, and statutory inspection requirements throughout the construction phase.
- Verify measurements, completed works, and supporting documents to support fair and accurate valuation and certification of contractor payments, including interim and final claims.
- Support practical completion and handover by preparing snagging lists, monitoring rectification works, and confirming that the site is ready for occupation.
- Champion compliance with ISO standards and other applicable quality and safety frameworks in every aspect of project execution.
