Role Overview
This is a senior leadership position for an experienced operations executive who will take end‑to‑end accountability for the hospital’s daily functioning. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Operating Officer will translate strategic priorities into practical action plans across clinical, administrative, and support services — ensuring that patient care remains safe, efficient, and financially viable. The role is pivotal in maintaining a high‑volume hospital environment where quality standards, staff performance, and patient experience must all move forward together.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the CEO to shape operational strategy, annual business plans, and budgeting cycles, turning high‑level objectives into measurable departmental targets.
- Provide executive oversight of hospital operations, facilities management, biomedical engineering, and all support services, ensuring that infrastructure and resources align with patient care needs.
- Collaborate closely with medical, nursing, finance, and risk teams to improve patient experience, strengthen clinical governance, and guarantee business continuity during disruptions.
- Lead quality assurance initiatives, including accreditation processes and compliance with SafeCare standards, embedding continuous improvement into everyday workflows.
- Champion digital health adoption and transformation projects, using Lean methodologies and automation to streamline operations and eliminate waste.
- Monitor and report on performance indicators covering clinical outcomes, service delivery, financial health, operational efficiency, and patient safety — intervening promptly when targets fall off track.
- Build a high‑performance management culture by developing future leaders, promoting accountability, and instilling a shared commitment to compassionate, mission‑driven care.
- Assume additional responsibilities as delegated by the CEO to meet evolving hospital needs.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Health Services Management, Business Administration (MBA), or a closely related field.
- A professional qualification in hospital management, healthcare operations, quality management, project management, or healthcare leadership is strongly preferred.
- At least 10 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare operations, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior executive role within a high‑volume hospital.
- A demonstrable track record of improving operational performance, achieving accreditation, managing budgets, and leading multidisciplinary teams effectively.
- Registration with the relevant professional body where applicable to the candidate’s jurisdiction or field of practice.
- Unquestionable integrity, strong analytical and organisational capabilities, and the agility to respond to shifting operational pressures.
- A leadership style rooted in empathy and compassion, paired with excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to social impact.
What We Offer / Why Join
This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference at a hospital driven by values of mercy and service. As COO, you will have the autonomy to shape how care is delivered at scale, leading a dedicated multidisciplinary team in a mission‑focused institution. The role offers the chance to work alongside the CEO and executive leadership to influence strategic direction while being directly responsible for the operational innovations that improve patient outcomes and staff satisfaction.
