We are currently seeking an experienced and results-driven Poultry Abattoir Manager to oversee our abattoir operations and lead our production team.
Job Summary
As the Poultry Abattoir Manager, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the poultry abattoir, including production planning, team leadership, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize processing efficiency, maintain product quality, and uphold HACCP and other food safety systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of the poultry abattoir, including scheduling, throughput, and resource allocation.
- Lead, train, and develop production teams to achieve performance targets and maintain a safe working environment.
- Implement and maintain HACCP plans, sanitation procedures, and all regulatory food safety systems.
- Monitor processing systems to ensure efficiency, animal welfare, and product quality standards.
- Collaborate with procurement, quality assurance, and maintenance departments to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and occupational health and safety standards.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Food Science, Veterinary Medicine, Agriculture, Agribusiness, or a related field.
- Additional qualifications in Operations Management or Food Processing will be an added advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in poultry processing or meat production.
- Minimum two (2) years managing a commercial poultry abattoir.
- Proven experience leading production teams.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of poultry processing systems and equipment.
- Experience implementing HACCP and food safety systems in a processing environment.
