About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing teacher to create a safe, secure, and engaging learning environment for children. You will plan and deliver lessons aligned with our curriculum, assess student progress, and collaborate with coaches and leadership to continuously improve teaching practices. This role requires flexibility, strong communication skills, and a commitment to fostering the holistic development of every child.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable.
- Plan and execute appropriate activities for the children each day according to the curriculum, schemes of work, and lesson plans.
- Develop, review, and update schemes of work and lesson plans in line with the school curriculum, in partnership with your line coach and the Curriculum Development Manager.
- Set assessments for subject areas or topics when requested or called upon.
- Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate, and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play.
- Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage.
- Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, and storytelling.
- Prepare materials, classrooms, and other indoor and outdoor spaces to facilitate creative play, learning, motor-skill activities, and safety.
- Observe and evaluate each child’s progress and provide written reports to the Principal, other school leaders, and parents.
- Monitor and keep records or reports of the children’s progress and development.
- Instruct students individually and in groups, adapting teaching methods to meet varying needs and interests.
- Assimilate arriving children into the school environment by greeting them, helping them remove outerwear, and selecting activities of interest.
- Establish and enforce rules for behavior, policies, and procedures to maintain order among students.
- Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guests, or other experiential activities, and guide students in learning from those activities.
- Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Assist in bus loading and unloading.
- Any other duties as assigned by your line coach.

Skills and Qualifications
- A valid TSC certificate.
- A relevant degree in Education, preferably with a focus on English and Literature.
- Previous training, qualification, or experience in teaching the Cambridge curriculum is an added advantage.
- 3+ years of teaching experience.
- Strong working knowledge of technology, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexibility and openness to change, with the ability to handle uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity.
- A proactive problem solver who identifies issues and finds thorough solutions.
- Enthusiasm for our organizational culture, including embracing mutual vulnerability and receiving a firehose of feedback.
- A desire to further develop your leadership skills and apply them to transform the lives of African youth.
