Role Overview
This position exists to grow the venue's revenue by expanding its presence in the corporate, institutional, and non-profit sectors. Day-to-day, the Business Development Executive identifies promising organisations, pitches tailored event solutions, and manages the full sales cycle from first contact through to post-event follow-up. The role matters because corporate, NGO, embassy, and institutional clients deliver high-volume bookings and long-term recurring revenue across meetings, conferences, retreats, and exhibition segments.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and secure new accounts among corporate companies, NGOs, embassies, and institutional buyers, turning qualified leads into confirmed event bookings.
- Maintain and expand an existing portfolio of corporate clients through in-person meetings, property inspections, and personalised rate negotiations designed to drive repeat business.
- Create bespoke proposals, contracts, and sales presentations tailored to corporate retreats, meetings, incentive programmes, conferences, and exhibitions.
- Monitor competitor pricing, industry movements, and occupancy patterns, using these insights to align sales tactics with revenue management objectives.
- Represent the venue at trade shows, corporate expos, tourism fairs, and local business networking events to raise brand awareness and generate new contacts.
- Work closely with operations and other internal departments to ensure contracted events are executed seamlessly and exceed client expectations.
- Keep the CRM system current with leads, account activities, and deal stages, enabling reliable sales forecasting and pipeline reporting.
- Conduct post-event debriefs and courtesy follow-ups with key account managers, then coordinate with revenue and finance teams to track account yield, credit terms, and payment collections.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in hospitality management, sales and marketing, business administration, or a closely related field.
- At least four years of proven B2B sales or business development experience in the hospitality, hotel, or tourism sectors.
- A consistent track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets and closing corporate accounts.
- Excellent negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior decision-makers.
- Strong sales and marketing abilities, supported by outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated relationship management expertise, especially when handling long-term corporate partnerships.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and a practical understanding of the MICE event sales cycle.
