Role Overview
This position blends barista craft with early-morning pastry production, placing you at the heart of the daily service rhythm. You’ll start your shift before sunrise to bake, then shift seamlessly into preparing drinks and engaging customers during peak hours. Your ability to keep pace with a busy service while maintaining quality and warmth directly shapes the guest experience and the operation’s efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a full range of hot and cold beverages, using precise techniques to ensure consistency and flavor in every cup.
- Combine ingredients creatively for specialty drinks, adjusting recipes to match customer preferences and seasonal offerings.
- Read guest cues and ask thoughtful questions to recommend drinks that suit individual tastes, all while keeping the line moving during rush periods.
- Monitor bar stock levels, perform regular inventory counts, and follow set portion guidelines to control costs and minimize waste.
- Execute the daily pastry baking schedule, starting as early as 4:30 or 5:00 am, ensuring fresh product is ready for opening.
- Uphold strict food safety and hygiene standards across the bar and baking areas, including proper storage, labeling, and sanitation routines.
- Maintain a clean, organized workstation at all times, restocking supplies and cleaning equipment between service rushes.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a barista or bartender, with a solid grasp of beverage recipes, espresso extraction, and drink presentation.
- Ability to work an early morning schedule, including baking duties, without compromising attention to detail or energy levels.
- Strong physical stamina and manual dexterity to stand for long shifts, lift heavy ingredients, and handle continuous movement in a fast-paced setting.
- Creative mindset with genuine enthusiasm for the craft, paired with a collaborative attitude toward teammates and a focus on guest satisfaction.
- Clear, honest communication and a reliable, punctual work ethic, especially during solo early shifts.
- Consistent adherence to personal grooming standards and hygiene protocols required by food service regulations.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, whether that means refilling supplies, assisting a coworker, or adjusting the baking plan on short notice.
