Job Description

Position overview:

  • The role will be placed with a global travel technology company that builds booking platforms for vacation itineraries, flights, and hotels. This is a full-stack QA role, combining hands-on manual testing, test automation, and proactive innovation, including experimenting with AI to improve testing workflows. You will work closely with a team of junior engineers and help drive the shift toward modern automation practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform end-to-end manual and automated testing across a complex travel booking product.
  • Become a deep product expert, developing a thorough understanding of the platform's critical logic and user flows.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to automate manual test cases and take initiative in building those automations.
  • Write and maintain automated test scripts using Playwright with TypeScript.
  • Test and validate APIs using tools such as Postman.
  • Write and execute SQL queries to support data validation and backend testing.
  • Participate in daily standups, clearly communicating progress, blockers, and testing status.
  • Experiment with AI tools and implement new workflows to improve QA processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality across the product lifecycle.
  • Continuously stay up to date with emerging trends and best practices in QA, and proactively identify ways to implement them across the team.

Requirements:

Must have:

  • 2–3 years of hands-on automation QA experience (Playwright), with a strong QA mindset and critical thinking approach.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript (strongly preferred)
  • Experience writing and executing SQL queries.
  • Knowledge of APIs and experience working with tools like Postman.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and proactively, both verbally in standups and in written updates.
  • Attention to detail and diligence in testing to catch critical bugs before production.
  • Ability to incorporate feedback quickly and adapt to a fast-paced team environment.

Nice to have:

  • A background in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Experience using AI tools to support or accelerate QA work.

Location:

  • This is a full-time, remote role based in Kenya. Working hours are 3:00 PM – 12:00 AM EAT.
