Job Description

Role Overview

This position centres on delivering reliable, high-quality technical production support across live events, broadcasts, and corporate functions. Day to day, you will handle the complete lifecycle of audio-visual and LED systems—from pre-event checks and configuration to live operation, strikes, and routine upkeep. Your work directly influences audience experience and production continuity, so precision, calm troubleshooting, and clear coordination with the wider crew are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, connect, and de-rig audio, lighting, video, and LED display equipment for a wide range of event formats and venues.
  • Inspect and test all technical systems ahead of each event to identify faults, confirm signal flow, and ensure operational readiness.
  • Mix, balance, and process audio in real time during concerts, live broadcasts, conferences, and other productions to maintain clean, intelligible output.
  • Coordinate with performers, presenters, and production staff to understand sound requirements and adapt to changing cues or stage directions.
  • Capture speech and music recordings, then convert and archive the material in appropriate digital formats for post-production use.
  • Route and secure cabling, position microphones and monitors, and enforce safety standards throughout setup and live operation.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance, repairs, and fault diagnosis on audio-visual hardware, replacing or adjusting components as needed.
  • Keep precise logs covering equipment locations, usage hours, service actions, and recording files to support asset tracking and future planning.
  • Support the integration and alignment of LED display panels within broader stage or event setups, including signal routing and picture quality checks.
  • Step in for additional technical or operational duties assigned by management during busy production periods.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Diploma in audio engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • At least three years of hands-on work in audio or AV production; further education or extended field experience will be viewed favourably.
  • Practical command of mixing consoles, signal processors, wireless microphone systems, and digital audio workstations.
  • Familiarity with safe cabling practices, power distribution, and common stage and broadcast setups.
  • Sharp listening skills and the ability to spot and resolve subtle audio issues quickly under time pressure.
  • Comfortable working irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, in fast-moving event environments.
  • Strong organisational habits, clear written and verbal communication, and a collaborative attitude with other technicians and clients.
  • A genuine interest in broadcast and recorded sound, with a proactive approach to learning new equipment and techniques.
