Role Overview
This position sits within the Group Life & Pensions division, where the primary focus is growing revenue through broker and intermediary relationships while delivering accurate, competitive quotations and proposals. The role holder acts as a bridge between the insurer and its distribution partners, ensuring new business is processed smoothly and clients receive responsive, knowledgeable service. Success here directly supports the expansion of the group life and pensions portfolio and helps the company stay competitive in a crowded market.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive revenue growth by cultivating new and existing broker relationships and identifying opportunities within the client base.
- Prepare and issue competitive quotations, proposals, and tender submissions for group life and pensions prospects and intermediaries.
- Advise clients and brokers on suitable cover options, weighing factors such as benefits structure, cost, and risk exposure.
- Coordinate meetings, presentations, and pitches for prospective clients, including managing exhibition stands and corporate sponsorships.
- Process new business documentation accurately and keep the prospect and closed-business database current, submitting weekly activity reports to managers.
- Strengthen relationships with intermediaries, business partners, and policyholders through regular communication, feedback gathering, and social forums.
- Monitor market conditions and competitor offerings to maintain credibility, and provide management with market intelligence and feedback.
- Support compliance and servicing meetings, train junior staff and business partners, and contribute to process improvement or automation initiatives affecting the department.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, social sciences, or a related discipline from a reputable university.
- At least four years of post-qualification experience in a life assurance and pensions business development function, including a strong sales and marketing background.
- Reasonable progress toward professional insurance qualifications such as ACII, FCII, or equivalent is an added advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare competitive quotations, proposals, and tender documents.
- Strong relationship management skills with intermediaries, brokers, and business partners.
- Solid knowledge of current market conditions, competitor products, and compliance requirements in life assurance and pensions.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and customer service abilities.
- Capability to train and mentor junior staff and business partners.
