Role Overview
This internship sits within a real estate and development finance team, where you will help assess whether land sales, new development schemes, and adjacent opportunities make commercial sense. You will build and refine the financial models and business plans that senior decision-makers rely on, and you will prepare materials that translate complex analysis into clear recommendations. The work is central to how the team prioritises capital, evaluates projects, and communicates with investors.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to commercial and financial appraisals of potential land disposals, development projects, and other new ventures, then help package findings for senior management review and approval.
- Help construct and update business plans and financial models for real estate developments, including infrastructure elements such as power, water, and telecommunications.
- Assist in producing senior-management presentations that pair financial analysis with clear charts, tables, and visual summaries.
- Support the shaping and rollout of strategy for both established and newly formed business areas, working under the direction of more experienced colleagues.
- Help keep investor information memoranda accurate and current for real estate and related projects.
- Participate in deal sourcing and execution, taking on assigned workstreams as deals progress.
- Apply appropriate valuation methods, accounting principles, and financial-market knowledge to models, analyses, and recommendations.
- Manage several concurrent tasks and deadlines in a fast-moving environment while maintaining analytical rigour.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline.
- One to three years of experience in financial analysis.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and hands-on financial modelling capability.
- Familiarity with valuation techniques and their underlying principles.
- Accounting knowledge, including a working grasp of general accounting principles and practices.
- Solid understanding of finance and financial markets, with the ability to apply that knowledge to practical situations.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Clear written and verbal communication in English.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and work effectively in a fast-paced setting.
- Knowledge of real estate or city planning is an advantage.
- CFA certification would be viewed favourably.
