Position Context

We are seeking a highly organized, physically active Assistant Warehouse Supervisor to support our storage and distribution hub on Ngong Road, Nairobi. Your primary focus will be to streamline daily goods receiving, systematic rack storage, and fast-paced vehicle loading for our premium ceramic tiles and fragile sanitary ware portfolios. This position bridges practical machinery operation with disciplined administrative control; you will safely maneuver a forklift to transport high-value, breakable products, oversee daily loading teams, and log inventory movements into our ERP system. The role demands a safety-conscious, hands-on logistics professional who can maintain order on the warehouse floor and confidently step up to run the facility in the Supervisor’s absence.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Tracking & System Reconciliation

• Execute regular cycle counts and comprehensive quarterly stock takes to maintain 100% record accuracy.
• Identify, document, and report stock variances, critical shortages, or slow-moving overstock risk profiles to management.
• Update our central warehouse database (SAP or equivalent) instantly with all incoming and outgoing stock entries.
• Draft clear, routine inventory reports, documenting daily dispatch metrics, return logs, and breakages.

Receiving, Dispatch & Material Handling

• Verify physical incoming and outgoing shipment counts against delivery notes, tax invoices, and picking lists.
• Inspect arriving and departing crates of tiles and bathroom accessories for cracks, chips, or defects, filing immediate damage reports.
• Safely operate a forklift and auxiliary warehouse machinery to load, offload, and stack heavy pallets inside the racks.
• Coordinate transport logistics directly with delivery drivers, product suppliers, and the sales office to ensure prompt order completion.

Space Optimization & Facility Care

• Arrange and clean storage bays to maximize physical space utilization and facilitate fast, efficient stock retrieval.
• Enforce strict daily housekeeping policies, ensuring clear pedestrian gangways and clean, clutter-free packing zones.
• Implement structured product organization systems, grouping stock systematically to minimize handling times and avoid breakages.

Team Supervision & Safety Control

• Manage the daily tasks of warehouse assistants and casual loaders, delegating explicit picking and packing goals.
• Enforce strict adherence to safety standards, including the non-negotiable use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Deliver safety briefings to loaders, addressing proper manual lifting techniques for heavy tiles and fragile ceramics.
• Act as the lead coordinator on the warehouse floor when the Warehouse Supervisor is off-site, ensuring smooth operations.

Requirements

Minimum Entry Criteria

• Academic Foundation: Diploma in Purchasing & Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a matching field. (A bachelor's degree will be an added advantage).
• Field Longevity: Minimum of 2 years of active, hands-on experience in a busy, high-volume warehouse setting, preferably within building materials, retail, or FMCG sectors.
• Technical Equipment License: Valid, practical forklift operating experience with a strong track record of navigating tightly packed warehouse bays safely.
• Software Competence: Practical experience using SAP or an equivalent ERP/Warehouse Management System (WMS), along with general proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

• Physical Stamina: Physically fit and energetic, with the stamina required to lift, stack, and inspect heavy, delicate building materials in a busy environment.
