Role Overview
This academic post sits within the nursing and midwifery programmes of Alupe University, where the appointee carries the day-to-day delivery of theoretical and clinical teaching while building an independent research and publication record. Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver lectures, tutorials, seminars, and clinical skills sessions across nursing and midwifery courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
- Supervise students in clinical placements and skills laboratories, assessing competence against professional practice standards.
- Set, administer, and mark examinations, continuous assessments, and practical evaluations, and maintain accurate student records.
- Supervise student research projects and dissertations through to completion.
- Conduct original research in nursing, midwifery, or a related field and disseminate findings through peer-reviewed publication and conference presentation.
- Contribute to curriculum design, review, and the accreditation and quality assurance processes of the department.
- Provide academic advising and mentorship to students, including support for professional registration pathways.
- Serve on departmental and university committees and take part in community health outreach and partnership activities.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in Nursing or Midwifery from recognised and accredited universities.
- Registered, or eligible to register, for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nursing or a closely related discipline at a recognised university.
- A valid Annual Practicing License issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and academic systems used for teaching and assessment.
- Demonstrated potential for university teaching, research, and scholarly publication, evidenced through prior teaching, research engagement, or published work.
